When you read, don’t just consider what the author thinks, consider what you think.

“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.”

Today, this situation has been reversed. We spend our lives for a cool and respectable job, and then a comfortable retirement. Maybe we are interested in a few social activities as a hobby. Thus we can relax and then continue our work efficiently. I heard a very good example for this situation in a conference that I attended; “We are dying at the age of 23, and we expect to be buried until the age of 70.” In fact, when most of us start university, we become a zombie and we are breaking out of life.

For what?
